Dame Evangelist (Mrs) Edith Okowa, Delta State First Lady and founder of 05 Initiative,  on Monday 30th May, 2016, formally commissioned the newly rehabilitated  and well equipped Sickle Cell Clinic at the Central Hospital, Oleh, in Isoko South Local
Government Area of Delta State.

The Sickle Cell Clinic which was built, equipped and donated by the Martha Charity Foundation, one of the leading non-governmental organizations in Nigeria and Delta State advocating for collaborative efforts in the areas of health education and poverty alleviation, achieved this feat in collaboration with the 05 Initiative, an NGO of the First Lady of Delta State.

The Martha Charity Foundation has offered thousands of youth scholarships to deserving recipients, from primary  to tertiary levels in the Niger Delta region over the years. On the 2nd of May this year, the foundation in collaboration with Medshare USA donated 4 (nos) forty foot container loads of medical supplies and equipment worth over $2M to the Delta State government at Asaba.

Today, the total rehabilitation furnishing and equipping of the Isoko central library is ongoing and nearing completion. According to Barr. Orezi Esievo, Member representing Isoko South Constituency 1, Delta State House of Assembly, and administrator of the Martha Charity Foundation, "doing good is good business and to God alone be all the glory".

Dame Edith Okowa who was warmly welcomed by the political class as well as wives of political office holders and appointees at the hospital premises, commended the founder of Martha Charity Foundation, Chief Immanuel Emoefe, the Okpugo of Irri Kingdom and other notable Isoko sons and daughters for their support and contribution to the sickle cell clinic.

The elated wife of the state governor inspected the various equipments in the laboratory, which include Hematology auto analyzer, Haemoglobin electro phoresis and Hematocrit centrifuge amongst others.

She enjoined parents of carriers of sickle cell anaemia to adhere to medical advice and ensure that their children and wards know about their genotype and get the prompt medical treatment the Centre affords.
